For now, we are anticipating the new look for explain law to launch on July 4, 2008.  As it is less than two months, we are anxiously waiting and hoping for the best.  Please stay tuned as this will be a great experience for the legal and internet community.

Professional Networks

Due to the success of social network platforms like MySpace and Facebook, the social network platform has seen an explosion of sites that focus on niches. And as a result, the obvious next step has been professional networks as witnessed by LinkedIn. While linkedin as succeeded as a professional network platform, individual niches have not yet captured their respective markets.

The reason of lack of success in the niched professional networks is due to the lack of promotion and dedication to its development. There is a lot of work involved with the development of a social network, but there’s more work involved in the actual promotion.

Another reason for the lack of success or domination by a professional network is the inability to find the features necessary to provide the usability of the profession. Professions like medical, journalism, legal, accounting, etc, could use a professional network, yet their needs are different than that of your typical myspace and Facebook type sites that are cloned and used over and over again. Myspace and Facebook were created for a younger crowd, children, teens and college students, the games and music features are not what are needed in a professional network.

What a professional network needs, is a different platform and a different angle that can bring together the professionals with their potential clients and facilitate communication and information in their respective fields.
